cybertruck redesign could revolutionize

Tesla’s Cybertruck is getting several major upgrades in 2025. The electric truck maker has announced multiple improvements that’ll change how the vehicle performs and what it can do.

Tesla’s rolling out a new Terrestrial Armor Package for $3,500. It includes an aluminum underbody shield and steel rock sliders to protect the truck during off-road driving. Foundation Series owners can get it now, but everyone else must wait until September 2025. The package comes with three main parts that protect the battery and sides of the vehicle from rocks and debris.

Charging speeds are getting a massive enhancement too. Tesla’s increasing the maximum charging rate from 325kW to 500kW, which is 53% faster than before. This upgrade comes in the third quarter of 2025 with new V4 Supercharger cabinets. Under perfect conditions, the Cybertruck will charge fully in just 12 minutes. Tesla says this’ll also help reduce electricity costs for owners.

The 2025 model year Cybertrucks started arriving in late December 2024. These new trucks have a different VIN character – it’s now “S” instead of “R” for the tenth spot. Early owners say the 2025 version drives much smoother and makes less noise than the 2024 models. Tesla addressed powertrain issues from the 2024 model, including replacing defective drive inverters and fixing underfilled front differential fluid problems. The quieter operation aligns with how EVs produce significantly less noise pollution compared to traditional combustion engine vehicles.

Early 2025 Cybertrucks drive smoother and quieter with updated VIN characters marking the new model year.

Tesla’s also launching a new rear-wheel drive Long Range variant in April 2025. This single-motor version has the longest range of any Cybertruck but costs less than other models. It’s meant to be the “everyman’s Cybertruck” that more people can afford. This completes Tesla’s original promise from 2019 to offer three different versions.

More features are coming throughout 2025. Tesla’s adding B-pillar camera recording to Sentry Mode for better security. They’re developing new suspension controls for off-road driving. Current and future owners will get free Cyber Wheel Caps too. Despite these improvements, the Cybertruck has seen resale values decline by 35% as Tesla floods the market with higher inventory levels.

Giga Texas continues hitting new production milestones as Tesla makes these different Cybertruck versions. The factory’s focusing on Foundation Series trucks first before expanding to standard models. Tesla’s adjusting its timeline to add all these new features while keeping up with demand.
