Tesla’s expansion plans are coming to Austin. CEO Elon Musk announced in early November 2025 that the company will build a new all-night diner near its Giga Texas headquarters. Musk made the official statement on X social media platform. Multiple business and automotive news outlets confirmed the announcement after Tesla released strong Q3 2025 operational results.
Tesla plans to open an all-night diner near its Austin Giga Texas headquarters following CEO Elon Musk’s November 2025 announcement.
The Austin location will sit in eastern Travis County, close to the existing Gigafactory. This proximity to the manufacturing facility was the primary reason Tesla chose Austin over a proposed Palo Alto site. Industry analysts noted that Austin offers considerably more available land and lower property costs compared to Palo Alto’s expensive real estate market.
Construction and expansion will be easier at the Giga Texas campus, which already has existing infrastructure to support utility connections. The Austin Business Journal organized a 2026 Economic Outlook event to discuss how market conditions will impact expansion opportunities for companies like Tesla.
The diner concept builds on the success of Tesla’s original Santa Monica Boulevard location in Los Angeles. That restaurant has been constantly packed with customers. In 2025, the location sold approximately 50,000 burgers, averaging about 715 daily sales. The 24-hour service model proved profitable and popular, especially among people using Superchargers.
Tesla plans to replicate the Los Angeles diner’s design at the Austin location. The facility will include balcony seating and two large rooftop movie screens. The Austin diner will have 32 or more Supercharger stalls, allowing customers to charge their electric vehicles while dining. This combination of dining and charging appeals to multiple groups of people.
The primary customers will be Giga Texas factory employees who work various shifts. Secondary customers will include Austin-area electric vehicle owners. The 24-hour operation accommodates shift workers and creates a community hub near the manufacturing center.
The menu will feature locally sourced items, including the “Ludicrous Burger” option from the original location. Tesla’s bet on expanding its diner concept reflects confidence in the business model. The company believes combining food service with Supercharger infrastructure creates value for customers and the company.
Austin’s diner will test whether this restaurant concept can succeed beyond its original Los Angeles location.
