tesla opens ev hub

Tesla’s opening a massive new electric vehicle hub in Port Coquitlam this August that’ll create 80 jobs and serve thousands of EV owners across the Lower Mainland. The 60,000 square foot facility on Nicola Avenue will handle repairs, service, and deliveries for the region’s growing Tesla fleet.

Tesla’s massive Port Coquitlam hub brings 80 jobs and expanded EV service to the Lower Mainland this August.

The new center sits on a 7.53-acre site in the Dominion Triangle area near Home Depot. It’s strategically placed off Lougheed Highway between Costco and Canadian Tire. The facility includes 650 parking spots for vehicle storage and processing. Unlike traditional car dealerships, this location focuses mainly on service and repairs rather than sales.

Port Coquitlam’s council approved the project in September 2023 after reviewing the proposal that summer. The unanimous decision came with little discussion from council members. Construction wrapped up in time for the August opening. Bosa Properties, the developer advancing the project, helped shepherd it through the approval process.

The facility will deliver 75% of new Tesla vehicles in the Lower Mainland. Workers can service about 50 vehicles daily. The center also runs mobile repair units that fix cars at customers’ homes. Vehicles arrive here from Tesla’s factories in the United States and Shanghai before heading to local owners.

Tesla’s picked Port Coquitlam for good reason. The company holds 51% of BC’s electric vehicle market. About 32,000 Teslas cruise Metro Vancouver’s roads – that’s 79% of all Teslas in the province. The new center works alongside Tesla’s larger 120,000 square foot Vancouver location, sitting 17 miles to the east.

The development brings major infrastructure improvements to the area. Nicola Avenue’s getting new curbs, gutters, drainage systems, and sidewalks. The project includes new street trees, lights, watermains, and sewer systems. Fire hydrants are being installed too.

Tesla’s hosting a grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can test drive the latest models and tour the facility. The event features live music, giveaways, and refreshments. Tesla staff will answer questions about vehicles and ownership. Space is limited, so interested folks need to RSVP early.

The Port Coquitlam hub represents Tesla’s broader push to expand service centers across North America as electric vehicle adoption accelerates. The facility includes an 11,000 sq. ft. building on the northern portion of the site for additional operations.
