Tesla’s latest Full Self-Driving update brings significant changes to how drivers interact with the autonomous system. Version 14 started rolling out Tuesday morning to select vehicle owners, with different features available depending on their car’s hardware.
The new system makes starting self-driving much simpler. Drivers can now activate it with a single tap on the touchscreen, whether they’re parked or already driving. The system has replaced separate autopilot and traffic-aware cruise control features with one unified platform.
One of the biggest improvements is parking capabilities. FSD v14 can now maneuver through parking garages, stop to grab tickets at entry gates, find open parking spots, and complete the parking process automatically. Tesla focused heavily on improving what happens after drivers arrive at their destination. The system remembers parking preferences for each destination and automatically applies those settings on future visits.
The update includes robotaxi-style dropoff features in version 14.1. The system can handle the complete trip from a parked starting position all the way to parking at the destination. Drivers can adjust speed profiles and arrival options directly from the autopilot visualization on the center display.
Speed control has become more customizable. Drivers can select precise maximum speed offsets in miles or kilometers per hour. Multiple speed profiles let users customize how the system drives, mirroring their personal driving styles. A new Sloth speed profile enables more conservative driving for those who prefer a cautious approach. Tesla plans to add even more smoothness improvements in the upcoming version 14.2.
The safety monitoring system has gotten stricter. The strike forgiveness period dropped from seven days to just 3.5 days. Drivers who don’t maintain proper attention during FSD or autopilot use receive strikes. Vehicles with cabin cameras get five strikes before temporary suspension, while those without cameras only get three. Strike countdowns continue even on days when drivers aren’t using the system.
Voice commands also changed. Activating Grok now requires holding down the microphone button instead of tapping it once. Single taps activate the older voice command system.
FSD version 14.1 is rolling out to HW4-equipped vehicles through software update 2025.32.8.5. Vehicles with HW3 Intel systems are also receiving version 14 updates with compatible features.
