Starting in September 2025, Porsche and Audi electric vehicle owners will finally get access to Tesla’s massive Supercharger network across North America. Porsche will begin its soft launch on September 9, while Audi will follow later that month with select 2025 e-tron models. This move adds the two luxury brands to the growing list of non-Tesla automakers joining Tesla’s charging network.
Porsche and Audi EV owners gain Tesla Supercharger access starting September 2025, expanding charging options across North America.
The Volkswagen Group announced its commitment to Tesla’s North American Charging Standard in December 2023. Now that promise is becoming reality for thousands of electric vehicle drivers. Porsche Taycan and Macan Electric owners will gain access to over 23,500 Tesla Supercharger stations. Audi’s Q6 e-tron, A6 Sportback e-tron, and e-tron GT models will also work with the network. However, the Audi Q4 e-tron won’t have this compatibility.
To use Tesla’s Superchargers, drivers need a special NACS DC adapter from their manufacturer. These adapters only work with DC fast-charging Supercharger stations. They won’t work with home chargers, Tesla Destination Chargers, or other Level 1 and Level 2 AC chargers. Tesla developed NACS and opened the standard to other automakers to expand electric vehicle charging accessibility.
During the initial rollout, Porsche and Audi owners must use the Tesla app to start charging and pay for their sessions. The manufacturers plan to add this functionality to their own apps in the coming months. Porsche owners can reserve their free adapter through the My Porsche app during the soft launch period. Wayfinding systems will also get updates to show Tesla Supercharger locations on maps. The 2026 Porsche Taycan and Macan Electric models will feature updated navigation with Tesla Supercharger locations built into their systems.
The adapter pricing varies by model year. Owners of 2025 and 2026 Porsche Taycan and all Macan Electric models receive a free adapter. Porsche EVs from 2024 and earlier must buy the adapter for $185. Audi includes the adapter with all 2025 model year vehicles. Customers can purchase adapters through Porsche’s online shop and dealerships.
This partnership represents a major shift in the electric vehicle charging environment. Tesla’s Supercharger network is considered the most reliable and widespread fast-charging infrastructure in North America.
While Lamborghini and Bentley haven’t committed to the standard yet, Porsche and Audi’s adoption marks another step toward charging network standardization.
