Tesla’s next charging station is coming to Vanderhoof, British Columbia. The company’s official website lists the location as “Supercharger Coming Soon,” marking it as currently in development. Drive Tesla Canada‘s latest updates indicate that construction could begin as early as November 6, 2025, though Tesla notes that exact timelines are updated monthly during the planning phase.
The proposed site sits at 188 East Stewart Street West in Vanderhoof. This location places the Supercharger along the critical Highway 16 corridor that connects Northern BC’s major communities. The station will fill a significant gap between existing charging locations in Burns Lake and Prince George, two important stops for drivers traveling through the region.
When completed, the Vanderhoof Supercharger will feature four charging stalls available 24 hours a day. The infrastructure required to support this fast-charging station is substantial, demanding significant electrical upgrades to the area. Tesla’s latest Supercharger technology standards will power the facility, allowing owners to rapidly recharge their vehicles during travel. The station will likely deliver approximately 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes at peak performance levels. Additional EV charging facilities are also located nearby at addresses including 2370 Burrard Avenue and 2533 Burrard Avenue in Vanderhoof.
This development addresses a real challenge for electric vehicle owners in Northern BC. Range anxiety—the worry that a vehicle won’t have enough charge to reach the next charging point—has been a barrier for Tesla owners considering trips through central and northern regions.
The new station removes that concern for travelers heading between Prince George and Prince Rupert or connecting to other northern communities like Smithers and Smithers.
Once operational, the Vanderhoof location will integrate seamlessly into Tesla’s North American charging network. The station will appear on Tesla’s in-vehicle route guidance system, helping drivers plan long-distance trips with confidence. Regional residents and tourists will both benefit from the improved infrastructure.
Tesla’s expansion into Vanderhoof reflects the company’s commitment to building charging networks across Canada’s major transportation corridors. It also demonstrates Northern BC’s growing importance in the electric vehicle movement. As more drivers switch to electric cars, communities like Vanderhoof become essential stops rather than dead zones on the charging map. The project represents progress toward sustainable transportation options in previously underserved regions.
