When Tesla opened its Hollywood Diner on July 22, 2025, the company converted a former Shakey’s Pizza location into something unique. The West Hollywood restaurant at 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard combines food service with 80 electric vehicle charging stations. The two-story building features 3,800 square feet on the lower level and 5,500 square feet of outdoor seating.
The diner serves classic American food with a twist. Customers can order Tesla Burgers with Electric Sauce, grilled cheese sandwiches, tuna melts, and biscuits with gravy. Prices range from $4 for fries to $15 for breakfast items. Chef Eric Greenspan created the menu, mixing traditional diner favorites with modern touches.

What makes this restaurant different is how it delivers food. Optimus robots bring meals to tables in Cybertruck-shaped boxes. Tesla owners can order from their cars while charging and watch movies on two massive LED screens. One report says the screens measure 66 feet, while another mentions 45 feet. The car’s audio system syncs with the movie sound.
The diner operates 24 hours a day. It has a first-floor kitchen and bar, plus rooftop seating on the second floor. The Hollywood Partnership nonprofit organization supports this new business as part of efforts to improve the neighborhood. Tesla decorated the space with neon signs and retro diner style, creating what Elon Musk calls “an island of good food, good vibes, and entertainment.” Architecture firm Stantec designed the facility as a prototype for future deluxe Tesla charging stations.
Only Tesla vehicles can use the Supercharger stalls, but anyone can eat at the restaurant. The V4 chargers let drivers power up their cars while they dine or watch movies from their vehicles. Some early reports mentioned only 32 charging stalls, creating confusion about the actual number.
Tesla sees this Hollywood location as a test for future expansions. Musk wants to build similar diner-Supercharger combinations in major cities and along highways. The company believes mixing food, entertainment, and charging creates a better experience for electric vehicle owners. This innovative approach aligns with Musk’s latest Cybertruck announcement, which emphasizes the need for infrastructure that supports the growing electric vehicle market. By providing convenient dining options alongside fast charging, Tesla aims to enhance the overall customer experience and attract new users. Additionally, this strategy could set a precedent for how electric vehicle ecosystems are developed in urban settings.
Long lines and excited customers suggest people like the concept. If successful, Tesla could copy this model worldwide, turning boring charging stops into entertainment destinations. The Hollywood diner represents Tesla’s newest attempt to make electric vehicle ownership more convenient and fun.
